Your Guide to Injectable Fillers

By Andy Baromm

Injectable fillers have become a popular treatment because they are minimally invasive. A quick, relatively painless treatment every 6-12 months can keep you looking youthful without a major surgery.Because of the growing acceptance and popularity of these products, my patients have become more aware of the options.

Laugh lines

The most common area that soft tissue fillers are used to treat are laugh or smile lines. Most laugh lines soften considerably with one to two syringes of filler, but if you decide to treat the marionette lines or if your lines are particularly deep, more may be needed.

Since there are a number of available fillers for fine and deep wrinkles, both may be used in the same patient. Physicians often layer them in the same areas in order to plump folds and fill the lines that often lie in the depths of those folds. They give definition to the lips and fill other wrinkles such as laugh lines, and can be given in minutes with a tiny needle. The results are instantaneous, producing a long-lasting (6-9 months), natural enhancement, which is gentle and safe to the skin. Within hours, you may return to normal activities.

Lips

The lips are the last place women want to lose volume. A fuller and more sensuous mouth comes high many people's wish list. Our lips start to become thinner from our late twenties, with fine lines eventually appearing around the mouth. With a small injection of natural hyaluronic filler, you can give your lips their former glory. If you are adding lost volume or just redefining the contours of your lips, the instant results of lip filler procedures will impress you. Your new lips can appear as subtle or obvious as you want.

Cheeks

Nothing shows your age as much as volume loss in your cheeks. One inexpensive way of creating a youthful look, without resorting to invasive surgery, is Cheek Augmentation using dermal fillers.

Older skin may begin to lose its elasticity and plumpness over time. This eventually leads to a loss of shape and definition in the face, caused by sagging in the area around the cheek and jaw. Cheekbones that were once prominent and round may now look a bit sallow and flat, which makes us look older.Cheek augmentation fills and lifts the cheek areas, and tightens the surrounding skin, which helps to re-define the shape of your face, and give it a more balanced shape. Augmentation can also be used to improve the appearance of overly hollow cheeks and temples by adding volume to the area which gives a softer shape to an overly angular face.
