Dr. Albert T. W. Simeons, is the pioneer and founder of the known world 'hCG diet'. Many people all over the world use it treat obesity.
Dr. Simeons was born in London, and after living most of his childhood there studied medicine in the University of Heidelberg. Following the completion of his basic medical degree, he continued on with his post graduate studies in Germany and in Switzerland. During this time there, he worked in a number of different areas of medicine, eventually deciding to specialise in tropical medicine. In order to pursue this further, he moved to Hamburg where he enrolled in the School of Tropical Medicine there.
During his time studying and working, Dr. Simeon worked on and studied injection remedies for malaria along with methods of staining malarial parasites. For this work of his, he was awarded the Red Cross Order of Merit by the Queen of England in 1931.
That same year he moved to India, where he stayed for 18 years and continued practicing Medicine, when he found something remarkable. He discovered undernourished women who were almost starving were still able to give birth to healthy babies. Soon after that, he discovered that their bodies were producing large amounts of hCG. That hCG was breaking down the fat reserves of the body of the mother and was supplying it to the baby she carries. And then they give birth to a healthy and strong baby. So he studied this specific aspect of weight management in detail. After he finished his work in India, he moved to Italy.
Following a period of research, Dr. Simeons published 'Pounds and Inches: A New Approach to Obesity' in 1954. His theory regarding fat breakdown usually occurs during periods of starvation, but after around 90 days or so, or in pregnancy, the fats that are present around the joints and thighs break down to provide energy and nutrients. These secondary fat reserves are normally not utilised in healthy people, and can be the reason for weight gain.
As Dr. Simeons continued with his research, he published a report in which he expressed surprise at how a diet low in calories combined with hCG resulted in a noticeable weight-loss that reshaped the body, and sometimes recognized in subjects who were not given to exercising. The treatment was devoid of side-effects such as headaches, irritability, hunger pangs or weakness. So, Dr. Simeons concluded that it was the fat reserves that were broken down and helped subjects to slim down.
He put all that together in his manuscript and that way he created one of the most discussed weight loss programs these days. Thousands of people all over the world use this exact program and get perfect results every day. So, it seems that his little observation has taken us to one of the best discoveries in weight loss today.
